Privacy Policy

This page explains how FretMapper handles information when you visit the site. We try to keep this simple, because the site itself is simple: server-rendered HTML pages about acoustic guitar chords and songs.

Information we collect

FretMapper does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask you for personal information. When you use the search box, the text of your query is sent to the server only so we can return matching pages. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or rent any information about visitors.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting environment may automatically record standard technical information when a page is requested — such as the requested URL, the date and time, a referring page, and a general browser or device type. This information is used to keep the site running and secure, and to understand which pages are useful. It is not used to identify you personally.

Cookies

FretMapper's own pages do not set tracking cookies. If we introduce cookies in the future — for example, to remember a display preference — we will keep them to what is needed for the feature to work. Some third-party services described below may set their own cookies; you can control or block cookies through your browser settings.

Third-party services

We may use third-party providers for hosting, content delivery, and advertising. These providers process requests on our behalf and may collect technical information (such as IP address and browser type) as part of delivering their service. Any advertising partners we work with operate under their own privacy policies, which govern how they handle the data they collect.

Children's privacy

FretMapper is a general-audience reference site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
